Data, data everywhere. The amount of data we generate is growing exponentially — it’s a natural side effect of living in a technology-enabled world. Every Google search, email sent and internet of things (IoT) device produces a wealth of information that can be used to generate key insights.
By 2025, IDC predicts global data will grow 61% from 33 zettabytes now to 175 zettabytes,1 across the core (datacentres), the edge and endpoints. To put that into perspective, by 2020 there will be 40 times more bytes of data than stars in the sky. There’s value in the insights this data provides, but the challenge for many businesses is extracting that intelligence due to the sheer amount that is being generated.
